Rapasaari railway station is a nationally significant built cultural environment. Rapasaari station has a long and significant history in Lappeenranta. The port was established on 1 August 1885 and initially served as the only transport station in the city of Lappeenranta. This station was a central part of the city's transport network, serving both freight and passenger traffic. The establishment of the station was an important step in the development of the city, as it allowed for more efficient connections with other cities and promoted trade and industrial growth. For example, many local businesses benefited from the station, as their products could be transported more widely throughout Finland. The station building is currently used by the local association of the Finnish Lifeboat Association
