TREASURY MAP - DEVELOPING THE VISIBILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY OF SAIMAA GEOPARK

Project duration: 1.1.2025 - 31.7.2026

The aim of the TREASURY MAP - Developing the Visibility and Accessibility of Saimaa Geopark project is to increase the attractiveness of Saimaa Geopark as a tourist destination. This is achieved by improving the visibility and accessibility of sites and services and by developing the visibility of geological heritage in the content of Saimaa Geopark's tourist services. The project helps raise the perspective of responsible tourism on tourism and supports the development of the Saimaa region as a leading destination for lake tourism in the world.

The project's measures include measures that promote both physical and digital accessibility. In addition, the project will improve the visibility and accessibility of thematic services through new cycling and barrier-free tourism routes and thematic visibility.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with LAB University of Applied Sciences and Saimaa Geopark Association, with the target area being the Saimaa Geopark municipalities in South Karelia and South Savo.

In this context, stories are significant builders of the individuality of the experience, as each traveler forms their own interpretation of the stories, and as a result, each travel experience is individual.
