Hilja’s heritage park

The Hilja's heritage park is an important cultural and historical site, founded by the Imatra Local History Association in 1959. This historical museum was in operation until 2009 and was handed over to the City of Imatra in 1974. Although museum activities are currently suspended, the area still has much to offer visitors interested in local history and culture.

The Vuoksi Fishing Park has leased the site, which is located on the banks of the Vuoksi River, offering visitors a scenic setting just a short distance from Imatra city centre.

The courtyard of the Karelian homestead offers the opportunity to cherish old customs and traditions, making it an excellent place for traditional celebrations. The main building, a large and impressive residential building, represents a typical 19th century Karelian house. The courtyard also includes four barns and several other buildings, all dating from the 19th century. These buildings provide a fascinating insight into the rich history and traditions of the area.
