The heritage house is currently a museum

The Pattoi farm is located 10 kilometres from the centre of Juva. Pattoi is an example of a prosperous peasant farm typical of the region. The buildings are mostly preserved in the style of the early 20th century. Only the roofs have been upgraded from shingle to tile, felt and tin roofs since the 1950s. The house is not connected to electricity, water or sewerage.

History

The farm was ruled by the Nikulas for four generations from the time of its demarcation in 1841. The Pattoin farm was transferred to the municipality in 2004 and is now a museum. With only a few renovations, the farm is still in its late 19th century state, without electricity or plumbing. The Pattoi estate has been owned by the municipality of Juva since 2004. In 2019, the museum site was selected as the Heritage Landscape of the Year by Maatiainen ry.

The Pattoi Estate has traditionally been used for farming, agriculture, cattle breeding, hunting and fishing. The farm has been self-sufficient, providing almost everything needed by the farm's inhabitants. Almost everything needed was obtained from the farm from the surrounding forests. Pattoin stands out for the fact that these activities were carried out there with only minor changes from the early 19th century until almost the 1990s.
