Suomensalo esker terrain

The Suomensalo area is characterised by steep banks consisting of round stones, shore walls piled up by the ice, a kettle pond and shores dyed red by potassium feldspar. The site’s mica gneiss rocks rise up to 106msl and provide fantastic views over Kuolimo.

The island of Suomensalo can only be reached by boat or canoe. The island has a landing area for canoeists and boaters with a lean-to, a firewood shelter and an outdoor toilet.
