Lohikoski church
Saimaa Geopark’s natural and cultural site Lohikoski church is a long church with a gable tower and it is from 1930. It was designed by Ilmari Virkkala. Virkkala also painted the four-meters-tall altar painting, the nine symbolic paintings in the balcony’s railing and the colorglass cross in the balcony’s window. The Lohikoski church and graveyard are on top of a Salmenkangas sandy delta deposit.
